The Belgian Agility Year: Championships and Major Events
From winter competitions to the VOE Belgian Championship, DSAB's WAO try-outs and KKUSH's Belgian Cup and Grand Prix: how the Belgian agility season fits together, month by month, and where to find the current dates.
Belgian agility runs almost all year. Each organisation has its own rhythm, with winter series, spring selections, summer competitions and autumn championships. Once you know the pattern, planning your season is much easier.
This article describes the typical shape of the year for VOE, DSAB and KKUSH, using recent seasons as examples. Exact dates, venues and entry fees change every year, so always check the official calendars linked below before you plan. All upcoming VOE, KKUSH, NVBK and DSAB competitions are also listed together on our competition calendar, updated every day.

VOE: a season from autumn to autumn
The Hondenfederatie V.O.E. vzw publishes a combined sport and activity calendar for agility, obedience, Mondial Dogsport and club activities. Its season runs from autumn to autumn: the 2025–2026 calendar runs from November 2025 to October 2026.
How the VOE year unfolds
- Winter (November–February). The calendar is quieter for agility. Obedience winter criteria take place, and a few agility competitions and selection events are held.
- Spring (March–May). Agility competitions pick up nearly every weekend, mostly at member clubs in East and West Flanders, Antwerp and Limburg, with occasional events in Hainaut and just over the Dutch border. Several competitions double as selection events for international championships.
- Late April/early May: IFCS World Agility Championships (WAC). VOE sends a Belgian team. The 2026 WAC took place in Godella, Spain, and the 2027 WAC is planned for 27 April to 2 May 2027 at Magnago, Italy.
- Summer (June–August). Club competitions continue. Heat is a real factor: the 2025–2026 VOE calendar marks several June 2026 events as cancelled because of the heat.
- Late August: IMCA. VOE holds selections for the International Mixbreed Championship in Agility. In 2026 the IMCA-PAWC took place from 26 to 30 August at Onley Grounds in the UK.
- September: VOE Belgian Championship. The 2026 VOE Belgian Agility Championship was held on 20 September 2026, hosted by HvARTS vzw at the Sportcomplex Braderick in Vrasene. It was open to VOE members only (VOE events agenda).
- Late September/October: WAC selection and season close. A VOE WAC selection took place on 26 September 2026 at WW Indoor 4 All in Hoogerheide (Netherlands). Another "federal" competition, open to all federations, followed on 18 October 2026.
VOE championships and rankings
- VOE Belgian Championship (Belgisch Kampioenschap): the season finale.
- Superprestige: a season-long ranking.
To qualify for either, VOE requires a handler to have run at least one third of the federal competitions in the season (VOE calendar). Handlers from other federations who enter with an IB number can run VOE competitions, but they don't count in these rankings (VOE agility page).
Where to find dates: the VOE sport calendar, which lists date, type, host club and province, and the online entry agenda, which shows the venue address, entry fee and entry status.
DSAB: winter series to WAO try-outs
DogSport Agility Belgium (DSAB) publishes its calendar mainly in its Facebook group. Its season builds towards the World Agility Open (WAO).
A typical DSAB season
DSAB's published 2023–2024 calendar gives a good idea of the pattern:
- November–March: winter competition series. Monthly competitions were held at venues in Destelbergen and Dentergem.
- Spring: an Easter competition. In 2024 this was in Burcht.
- Summer: weekend events. In 2024 these included competitions in Dilsen and a three-day event at Just4fun in Wieze.
- Late September: Open Championship. The 2024 edition was held in Dentergem.
- October: WAO try-outs.
DSAB competitions offer WAO-style classes: agility, jumping and games (snooker and gamblers), plus speedstakes and team relay.
The WAO try-outs
The try-outs select the Belgian team for the following spring's WAO. For WAO 2027, the selection rules set the individual try-outs for 10 and 11 October 2026 at Barelhof Sport Horses, Destelbergen, judged by Jeremy Manno:
- Saturday: jumping, agility and gamblers. Sunday: jumping, agility and snooker.
- Dogs must run every course to score. Points go to the top 12 in each class, from 15 points for first place down to 1 point for twelfth.
- In jumping and agility, only runs with 10 faults or fewer score. In the games, a dog needs at least 20 points to score.
- To be eligible, a dog must have run at least two DSAB competitions (not counting try-outs) in the 12 months before.
The 2027 World Agility Open is planned for 12–16 May 2027 in Ermelo, Netherlands, which has hosted the WAO every year since 2022.
KKUSH Section 4C: the FCI calendar
The FCI route is run by Section 4C. Its yearly sport calendar lists every competition, and entries go through SmarterAgility. Under the Belgian regulation, KKUSH competitions are held only on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, and each club may organise at most four competitions per year, not counting selections and championships (regulation, PDF).
Recurring highlights:
- February–April: AWC selections. These run over three weekends. The Section 4C events list shows the 2027 selections starting on 27–28 February and 20–21 March 2027.
- Late March: Belgian Cup and Belgian Grand Prix (Beker van België / Grote Prijs van België). The Cup is for Grade 2 dogs with a pedigree and the Grand Prix for Grade 3 dogs with a pedigree. The 2027 edition is listed for 27–28 March.
- Spring: EO, JAO and SAO selections, for the European Open and the junior and senior Agility Open events.
- Late May: Belgian Winner Agility. This is open to Grade 2 and Grade 3 dogs with or without a pedigree, and includes a junior competition. The 2026 edition took place on 30–31 May in Berendrecht.
- Summer: the European Open, JAO and SAO. The 2026 JAO and SAO were held in Germany.
- Autumn: FCI Agility World Championship. Belgium hosted the AWC at Opglabbeek from 1 to 6 October 2024 (Royal Kennel Club report). The 2026 edition was held in Turku, Finland in September, and the 2027 AWC will be in Italy, according to Section 4C.
NVBK
The NVBK agility commission runs a handful of competitions that are open to all federations. It deliberately avoids dates that clash with VOE agility and NVBK obedience. Check its page for the current list.

Planning tips
- Choose your main organisation first. Rankings and championships reward regular entries with one organisation, such as VOE's one-third rule or DSAB's two-competition rule for the WAO try-outs.
- Enter early. Popular competitions fill up. KKUSH entries close three weeks before the event, and VOE and DSAB events can also fill.
- Watch the weather. Summer heat can cancel or shorten events. Check your organisation's channels the day before.
- Mind the paperwork for selections abroad. If you're selected for an international team, see Competing Abroad from Belgium and Belgium on the International Agility Stage.
- Your first competition? Pick a local event early in the season. Your First Agility Competition explains what to expect.
